Green innovation is happening so quickly - it's exciting to watch. I came across a little gem today - it's called Carbon Diem. Don't let the name fool you, this is smart stuff. It's a new software package from U.K. company Carbon Hero (another questionable name) that let's your GPS phone figure out how you're getting around at any given moment and calculate your carbon footprint as you go. It can tell if you're walking, biking, driving, taking the train, flying or riding a tiger. |

Vancouver is set to be the first Canadian city to allow manufactured electric cars on city streets. If you’re like me, you didn’t realize they weren’t allowed in the first place. I can’t quite figure it out. I’ve seen everything from Model T’s to rickshaws on our downtown streets, so what’s the deal with electric cars? Apparently, there have been safety concerns, but as an avid bike commuter, I can’t imagine an electric car being any less safe than crossing the Granville Bridge in the pouring rain on your bike. |
